So - our Fruitbat on the playa. Never met the girl before I was thrown into camp with her, as i was coming off the back end of one of my own self-induceds comas. It was fun getting to know her this way. I enjoyed her calm approach to adventure, her centered self-ness (not self-centeredness), her kind words at sensitive moments, and her utter unflappability. Also enjoyed catching her and a freind tangled up on the camp couch one lovely night, but that's for Cracked out Love Stories ;)
Anyway, I guess I actually *did* see her flapped... once.
Poor fruity was beside herself in tears one afternoon at camp, almost inconsolable it seemed. Her signature sunflower headgear had gone missing, and it was apparently of significant sentimental value for her. Boo - that SUCKS :)
As it happened, my dear playa buddies Brian and Nancy from portland ( i LOVE YOU, you two! ) had stopped by that morning, and somehow Justine's sunnyflowers had hopped on Nancy's bike, apparently attempting an escape. We happened to catch a photo of the very moment the breakout occured; it's posted here for your pleasure :) Needless to say, Fruity was her sunny self again as soon as the flora was returned to the fauna :)
The sun came out twice that day! Love you Justine :)
